Who we are

The Community Foundation for the Western Region of Zimbabwe (CFWRZ/ Western Region Foundation) is a non-governmental non-profit organisation formed in 1998.  It  is an independent, philanthropic institution working in Matabeleland North, Matabeleland South and Midlands Provinces of Zimbabwe which, over time, builds a collection of endowed funds from many donors in the community. It works to improve the quality of life of economically disadvantaged communities. CFWRZ realizes the importance of building bridges between communities and donors, thus, it is involved in fulfilling its mandate of enabling disadvantaged communities better themselves by addressing social and economic challenges facing people in the western region of Zimbabwe through amongst other interventions supporting social enterprise initiatives.

It arose from a community collective savings programme known as Qogelela endowment. This endowment was contributed by over 50 000 community members in the western region of Zimbabwe. Community effort has been a driving force for development in the western region of Zimbabwe.

The  CFWRZ  is a grant maker, broker, catalyst and facilitator for community resource mobilization and the promotion of sustainable socio-economic development of communities.
